My Work
With over 1,155 hours of practical counselling experience, I have had the privilege of working at
diverse practicum sites. These include the National Centre for Child Protection, where I assisted
survivors of gender-based violence and abused children; Headway Gauteng, where I supported
survivors of traumatic brain injury (TBI) in leading healthy, fulfilling lives; and Lefika La Phodiso, a
community arts counselling centre in Johannesburg’s inner city, where I developed and facilitated group interventions using art as a therapeutic tool. This diverse experience has equipped me to connect with people from various backgrounds.
I am trained in a range of counselling modalities, including Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Trauma Debriefing, Person-Centred Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, Adlerian Therapy, Narrative Therapy, and Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction Therapy. Additionally, I am skilled in developing group and community interventions, from initial assessment to monitoring and evaluation.
My Approach
As a Registered Counsellor, I take a short-term, goal-focused approach. Together with my clients, we set clear objectives for the counselling process and collaborate closely to achieve them. While I do not diagnose or treat serious mental illnesses, I am dedicated to helping clients manage symptoms of anxiety and depression and empowering them with the tools they need to cope more effectively in their daily lives.
In my private practice, I primarily offer individual counselling for adults and teenagers (12+ years) who are navigating challenges with their mental wellbeing. I also provide a range of psychological assessments, including career assessments, school readiness, and aptitude assessments.
